A Banner for Julia from Stampin' Up!'s Build a Banner Simply Create Kit

I bought the Stampin' Up! Build A Banner Simply Create Kit on a whim, thinking that I had alot of holidays I will be hosting and maybe I would get industrious and make a banner. I've tried in the past using my Cricut and it just seamed to take forever to get everything cut and prepared.

Well let me tell you this kit is amazing and easy and fast!

I knew I was going to mail my daughter Julia (who is in Tanzania with the Peace Corp) a care package and I decided last minute (which is how I do most of my projects) to make her a decoration for her new home.

Below are the canvas banners I made. The whole thing was done in one day. I was surprised how easy peasy it was.

I didn't take pictures along the way...sorry. The kit comes with 3 background stencils, 9 canvas flags and an alphabet stencil.

I used painters tape to the background stencil to make sure it stayed in place. Then I used one of the Stampin' Up! sponges and my ink pad and rubbed the color over the stencil.

I was pleasantly surprised with how bright and vibrant the colors looked on the canvas. The ink distributed very evenly with no leaking under the edge of the stencil.

Next was the fun part of decorating each flag. I decided to make each one a separate and meaningful decoration rather than a cohesive theme.

Mail to Africa is iffy at best. There is no guarantee that the package will arrive and if it does that someone hasn't opened it and taken out what they want before she gets it. It can take weeks to months to get there . Here's hoping it makes it to her new place for her to have a little piece of Mom.

I am going to order the refill kit and make some banners for myself!!

Thanks for visiting.
